The centerpiece of the program was Antonin Dvořák’s “Serenade for Winds,” which doubled up on the oboe, clarinet and bassoons, with a trio of horns, and a cello and bass.
This was a charmingly playful piece, and the interplay between Darci Gamerl on oboe and Ted Schoen on clarinet was utterly delightful, especially in the third movement. Throughout the piece one would respond to the other, then the other way around, and sometimes they played in tandem. Then there was a moment when Pospsil’s horn solo spurred the oboe and clarinet to higher passages.
