UNO sophomore flute performance major Gianna Sampson has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Nebraska Wind Symphony Memorial Scholarship, a competitive award recognizing outstanding collegiate wind and percussion musicians from Nebraska and Iowa.
The scholarship is open to college-bound and current undergraduate or graduate students who are Nebraska or Iowa residents, enrolled full-time at a Nebraska institution of higher education, and active participants in a collegiate music ensemble.

As part of the application process, candidates submit a recorded performance of a work with band accompaniment, demonstrating both technical excellence and musical artistry. Scholarship recipients may also be invited to perform as a featured soloist with the Nebraska Wind Symphony during its upcoming concert season. If selected to appear as a guest artist, Gianna will perform “Suite Modale” for flute and wind ensemble by Ernest Bloch.
