UNO Faculty members from music, theatre, and The Moving Company presented a production of Igor Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale on Wednesday, August 31 in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Written during World War I, Stravinsky wrote this work to be performed in small, portable theaters. He used material from a tale by Alexander Afanasiev, and novelist C.F. Ramuz wrote the libretto. This production featured Scott Glasser, narrator; Jack Zerbe, devil; and Lucas Perez-Leahy, soldier. The chamber ensemble consisted of Emily McIvor, clarinet; Jim Compton, bassoon; Jason Johnson, trumpet; Pete Madsen, trombone; Mary Perkinson, violin, Dani Meier, bass; Scott Shinbara, percussion and Karen Fannin, conductor. Dancers from The Moving Company were also featured.

UNO faculty’s technical prowess and emotional intensity brought the music to life and the audience to their feet.
