Dr. Matthew Brooks, Director of Orchestral Activities in Music & Medicine, has been recognized by the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) as recipient of the 2021-2022 Valor in Educational Service Award. One of eight Impact in Education Awards that may be awarded annually, this is one of the highest education-related awards conferred by UNMC to their faculty. This award recognizes faculty whose daily service to learners exemplifies the spirit of outstanding teaching.

While he is an Assistant Professor in the UNO School of Music, Dr. Brooks has a courtesy faculty appointment in the UNMC College of Medicine and serves both academic communities through his leadership of Music & Medicine activities, including the Nebraska Medical Orchestra, mentorship of student research and creative activities, and collaborative projects between the UNO School of Music and UNMC. He and the other recipients of the 2021-2022 Impact in Education Awards will be honored in a virtual ceremony on March 3.
