UNO Flute Student Lydia Kirkland Selected as Recipient of the 2022 NSBA Scholarship Award

The Nebraska State Bandmasters Association has selected UNO flute student Lydia Kirkland as the recipient of their 2022 NSBA Undergraduate Scholarship Award. To be eligible, students applying for this scholarship must have completed a minimum of 5 semesters in a Nebraska college or university music education program, and must be student members of NSBA.

In addition to one faculty letter of support, the application process for the $500 scholarship requires the candidates to answer the following 3 questions:

1. Musically speaking, who has been the most influential person in my life?
2. Why do I want to become a band director?
3. How will I make a difference in music education?

Lydia is a junior BM music education/entrepreneurship double major while also pursuing a minor in medical humanities and is a flute student of Dr. Christine Beard. She will be honored at the NSBA Awards Banquet held in Lincoln in March 2022. Congratulations, Lydia!
