Symphonic Wind Ensemble Performs for NSBA Clinic

On Friday, March 3, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble traveled to Lincoln for the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association Conference where they served as the clinic ensemble for two clinics with Allan McMurray.  McMurray is Distinguished Professor and Professor of img_1054Conducting Emeritus at the University of Colorado.  He served for 35 years as Director of Bands and Chair of the Conducting Faculty before retiring in 2013.  Considered one of the world’s leading teachers of conducting, Professor McMurray has guest conducted and taught conductors in 48 states and 16 foreign countries.  He has been a featured visiting professor and conductor at over 200 universities and conservatories internationally.
img_1053The two clinics were entitled “Leap and the Net Will Appear: An Artist’s Approach to an Interpretive Point of View,” and “Conducting from the Inside Out: Seeking an Expressive Approach to Non-Verbal Communication While Encouraging Collaborative Listening in the Ensemble.”
