Professor Brett Leonard Hits New York & Taiwan with the Chelsea Music Festival

Herald Square mixerUNO Music Technology area coordinator Brett Leonard returned to the Chelsea Music Festival (chelseamusicfestival.org) in New York City as the chief audio engineer for the third year. The 2015 festival featured artists from Hungary, Finland, Russia, Germany, Taiwan, and across North America, performing chamber music, jazz, and contemporary repertoire. Leonard coordinated the recording and sound reinforcement needs for the two-week festival, housed in non-traditional concert venues such as art galleries, lecture halls, and public parks in the heart of New York. The audio team also worked closely with videographer Lauran Jurrius of PolyCast Productions to create a multi-camera HD video production of each concert. The 2015 Chelsea Music Festival team also included current UNO music technology student Molly Gaughan, who joined the team as one of four audio interns chosen from applicants from around the country.

Following main festival in New York, Leonard joined a smaller group of artists on the inaugural Asian edition of the Chelsea Music Festival. The group flew to Taiwan to perform four nights of concerts in eclectic venues around Taipei, bringing chamber music to audiences from across Asia.
