Helen Creger is in her second year of an internship with Creighton Preparatory High School as the choral pianist. Helen rehearses four days a week with all the choirs. Rob Chesire, Director of Choruses at Creighton Prep said this of Helen: “Throughout this experience we have been blessed by her outstanding work ethic, as well as, her incredible discipline as a musician. Helen has proven to be a very poised leader who communicates her knowledge of music with ease and clarity”
Brandon Brown has had a tremendously successful internship with Opera Omaha. Blythe Watkins, Opera Omaha’s Director of Artistic Administration, said that she “wished Brandon could be at Opera Omaha every day. He is superb and an became and asset to Opera Omaha”.
Student Internships for the School of Music with Area Arts Organizations
Over the past school year and summer, 25 students in the University of Nebraska Omaha School of Music participated in internships throughout community arts organizations. The success of our students has led area arts organizations, creating internships specifically for our music students. The internships assist in the needs of community arts organizations while therein exposing students to arts administration, marketing, publicity, recording, and a multitude of performing artists.
Organizations who have partnered with students from the School of Music are numerous. Highlights are: Opera Omaha; the Omaha Symphony; the Omaha Area Performing Arts Center; the Omaha Area Youth Orchestras; the Vesper Series; the Omaha Chamber Music Society; Hear Nebraska; Omaha Public Schools; St. Cecilia’s Cathedral; the Omaha Public Library; Grace Lutheran Church; Augustana Lutheran Church; the Omaha Conservatory of Music; Creighton Preparatory High School; KVNO Classical Music Station and many more.
