With the opening of the new University of Nebraska at Omaha Baxter Arena, the UNO Bands have been working closely with university athletics to help contribute to an exciting game-day atmosphere with the addition of a band and professional-style drumline. The “Maverick Machine” Pep Band and the soon-to-be named drumline will be a major presence at volleyball, basketball, and hockey games. The Maverick Machine will operate on a pool system in which 50 students will be selected by audition and assigned to the various athletic events. The Maverick Machine carries with it a $500 scholarship in addition to admission to each of the games associated the band’s performance.
