The University of Nebraska-Omaha School of Music faculty trio, I the Siren are passionate about chamber music. This passion garnered attention and critical acclaim for the trio when they advanced to the semi-final round for the American Prize in Chamber Music. The trio’s award-winning recording was a result of their three week residency at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
Numerous commissions have given I the Siren a variety of rich musical literature, with a focus on women composers and extraordinary poets. The trio’s innovative education and outreach programs are designed to allow collaboration with the community, bringing approachable programming inspired by literature, poetry, and the role of women in music.
This summer the trio performed at the new music festival Omaha Under the Radar, featuring works written expressly for them – the trio was honored to have three of the composers in attendance for the premiere of their works. 2016 engagements are slated for Westminster Choir College, Converse College and the University of Wyoming-Laramie.
I the Siren is committed to bringing outstanding chamber music to UNOmaha and its surrounding communities while continuing to pursue excellence in the field of chamber music.
