The UNO Flute Studio has been competitively selected to perform at the third bi-annual Flute New Music Consortium (FNMC) New Music Festival, to be held in Oklahoma City, OK from October 23-25, 2026. Conducted by UNO’s Professor of Flute, Dr. Christine Beard, the studio’s program will include “Ascension” (2026) for flute ensemble by Christian Glascock, and “Pixels” (2021) by Kevin Day, scored for solo marimba and flute ensemble, featuring UNO’s Professor of Percussion, Dr. Hannah Weaver.

FNMC is a 501c-3 organization with the shared mission of promoting new music for the flute by commissioning works, organizing simultaneous premieres, and encouraging repeat performances. Open to all musicians – not just flutists, the 2026 New Music Festival will include workshops, performances, lectures, and panel discussions selected via the call for proposals, as well as events which feature composer Kevin Day, networking events for musicians and composers, and performances of winning works from FNMC’s composition competition.
