UNO’s Heartland Flute Choir (HFC) has been selected to perform at the National Flute Association’s 50th anniversary convention in Chicago in August 2022. Marking the HFC’s fifth performance at an NFA convention, the HFC’s program will include music by Kelly Via, Hugo Alfvén, Alexandra Molnar-Sahujda, and Ruben Flores and will be co-conducted by Dr. Christine Beard and Dr. Josh Kearney.

Founded in 2003 by UNO’s professor of flute, Dr. Christine Beard, the HFC is comprised of over 30 professional, adult amateur, and student flutists from Nebraska and western Iowa and has represented UNO at five NFA conventions, 3 NMEA Conventions, and is the only music ensemble from the state of Nebraska to be invited to perform at the prestigious Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.
