Dr. Matthew Brooks, Director of Orchestral Activities in Music & Medicine, and Gabriella Rizzo, UNMC MD/MBA student, joined forces with UNO faculty member Dr. Mary Perkinson and arts professional Nicoletta Moss of Washington, D.C., to create the National Association of Medical Orchestras.

Addressing a number of needs identified by medical orchestra organizers and participants, The NAMO was created to foster community and collaboration among medical orchestras by serving as a resource and advocate for medical orchestras nationwide. In its first month, The NAMO has attracted new members from across the country. Membership is currently free and open to all individuals affiliated with medical orchestras, those who are interested in creating medical orchestras, and others who are interested or involved in music and medicine.
