The Metropolitan Area Youth Jazz Orchestra (MAYJO) was selected by a state-wide competitive recorded audition process to perform at the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association (NSBA) Conference in Lincoln on March 6, 2020 in Kimball Recital Hall.

MAYJO is sponsored by the UNO School of Music Jazz Program and directed by UNO’s saxophone teacher Dr. Patrick Brown. MAYJO is a talented group of high school musicians from the Omaha metro area that are selected through a rigorous audition process.

MAYJO’s NSBA performance included guest artist appearances by UNO trumpet teacher Jason Johnson, and world-renowned drummer, big band leader, and recording artist Sherrie Maricle (sherriemaricle.com).
