Undergraduate students Kyle Case (music education) and Shae Monaghan (music/biology) presented at the American String Teachers Association National Conference on March 7 in Orlando, Florida. Their presentation, “The Inclusive Classroom: A Look at Adaptations for Students with Orthopedic Impairments,” was one of just a few sessions led by undergraduate students.
Dr. Matthew Brooks also presented at this national conference. His presentation, “Expressive Conducting for the School Orchestra Director,” highlights recent research on expressive conducting pedagogy and then offers practical skills to improve expressive conducting in the school orchestra environment. The ASTA National Conference was the third music conference this year at which Dr. Brooks was invited to speak on this topic.
