The UNO School of Music is pleased to announce the appointments of Katrina Cox as Instructor in Choral Music Ed and Zachary Colby as Instructor of Voice.
Katrina’s experience includes leadership positions as Choral & Drama Director at Centralia High School in Illinois, Music Director at the Centralia First United Methodist Church, and she has also collaborated as facilitator with the Austin Independent School District Creative Learning Initiative. Katie maintains an active agenda as a scholar and her interests in research have led to several presentations in Texas, Illinois and Georgia. Katie holds a Bachelor of Music Education (Choral Emphasis) and a Bachelor of Arts (German Teaching) from the University of Northern Iowa, a Master of Music Education from Florida State University, and she is currently finishing her Ph.D. in Music and Human Learning at the University of Texas at Austin.
Zachary has enjoyed a career performing in diverse genres including opera, oratorio, recital, choral and theatre. He currently sings and is Artistic Co-Director of Cantus, an eight-member vocal chamber ensemble based in the Twin Cities. He has sung with the South Dakota Chorale, Minnesota Chorale, and Minnesota Opera Chorus. He has been featured as a soloist with the Phipps Center for the Arts, Skylark Opera, National Lutheran Choir, Oratorio Society of Minnesota, Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, Butler University Choirs, and Macalester College Choirs. Zachary earned his Bachelor of Music Education in K-12 choral/vocal education from Butler University and his M.M. and D.M.A. in performance from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
