Collaborating with Vesper Concerts, Dr. Derrick Fox and Quince Vocal Ensemble joined forces to create the 1st Vocal Contemporary Residency in Nebraska. Students delved into contemporary vocal techniques and notation while learning music specifically chosen to explore a wide variety of diversity in composition, composers and performance practices. UNO choral students will gather with Quince Vocal Ensemble and the participating high school choirs October 21st, 2018 at 3pm at the Presbyterian Church of the Cross for a multi-faceted, engaging concert.
Quince Contemporary Ensemble has been hailed by critics as the “Anonymous 4 of new music. They have a clear mission (in this case, commissioning, performing, and advocating new and experimental work), superb blend, great versatility, and a general fearlessness of approach. It’s hard to imagine that the fresh, daring, often forbiddingly difficult works on this disc could be performed any better.” Opera News
