On Thursday, Oct. 26, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host members of the official touring big band of the United States Army, the Jazz Ambassadors.
The performance, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Strauss Performing Arts Center.
Even though there is no cost to attend, tickets are required for entry. Individuals can request up to four tickets that will be available at will-call by calling 402.554.3427.
All seating is general admission.
Formed in 1969, the Jazz Ambassadors is a 19-member ensemble that has received great acclaim at home and abroad. The band’s repertoire spans the history of jazz including big band, bebop, Latin, contemporary, Dixieland, patriotic selections and more.
The group is one of four components of the U.S. Army Field Band, the Army’s official touring musical organization.
The Jazz Ambassadors has appeared in all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Japan, India and throughout Europe. They have also performed on programs such as the Colbert Report.
