The UNO School of Music and Gallery 1516 inaugurated the first season of the UNO Student Recital Series at Gallery 1516 on Sunday, September 3, 2017. The first concert of the series was performed by students from the Keyboard Area, led by Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor. The series is designed to enhance community engagement by bringing high quality performances by some of the most talented young artists in the area. This partnership also provides an opportunity to create a stronger bridge between music and other kinds of arts.
Audience members were also able to enjoy the Legacy of Nebraska exhibition, 123 paintings by Nebraska painter, Todd Williams, commemorating the Nebraska Sesquicentennial. A great opportunity to explore how diverse art disciplines complement one another.
Upcoming events include performances by students from the Voice Area on October 1 at 11:30am and from the Jazz Area on November 5. The concerts are free and open to the public. Gallery 1516 is located on 1516 Leavenworth Street.
