The UNO Jazz Camp featuring the Jim Widner Big Band took place June 11-16 at UNO’s Strauss Performing Arts Center. 145 students ages 12-55 participated in the camp. Participants came from Nebraska, Iowa, Texas, and New Mexico! Campers were treated to daily performances by the Jim Widner Big Band, masterclasses, ear training sessions, improvisation training, and ensemble experiences. The Jim Widner Big Band consists of the finest professional jazz musicians from across the country, many of whom have performed with the likes of Woody Herman, Stan Kenton, Doc Severinsen, and Maynard Ferguson.
