UNO Professor of Flute, Dr. Christine Beard spent a week in Brazil (May 15-21) where she was invited to perform as the guest concerto soloist with the country’s second oldest orchestra, the Orquestra Sinfônica de Porto Alegre, under the baton of Maestro Evandro Matté. During her visit, Beard also taught a flute masterclass to students of Leonardo Winter at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, the country’s top-rated collegiate music program. To end the week, Christie joined Brazilian guitarist-composer Daniel Wolff in two recital performances featured on Porto Alegre’s popular annual concert series, Noite dos Museus.
