UNO senior flute performance major, Paige Michaud joined her professor, Dr. Christine Beard, as guest artists for the XIV Festival Flautas del Mundo (World Flutes Festival) held in Mendoza, Argentina from September 21-25, 2022. Their featured recital was Thursday 9/22 at the Teatro Quintanilla at Plaza Independencia for which Michaud performed “Zoom Tube” for solo flute by Ian Clarke, Beard performed “Lachrymose” for solo piccolo by Derek Charke, and the pair concluded their program with the South American premiere of “Intuition” for two flutes by Samuel Zyman. The pair was also showcased on the festival’s Saturday night gala concert: Paige gave an encore performance of “Zoom Tube” while Beard chose to perform “Lamento” by Christopher Caliendo.

Before the festival, the duo stopped in Buenos Aires where they explored the city, toured the beautiful Teatro Colón, and took in a tango show. While there, Paige also had an extended flute lesson with Horacio Massone, piccolo with the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra.
