UNO Music Faculty Selected for CD Recording Project

The Flutist New Music Consortium (FNMC) issued a call for applications for an upcoming CD project which will feature works by previous winners of their annual composition competition. To be eligible, applicants had to be current members of FNMC and have been involved in 2 consecutive commissioning cycles.

UNO’s professor of flute, Dr. Christine Beard was chosen to be one of the featured artists on the CD project. Selecting from the list of eligible compositions, Beard has invited her colleague, Dr. Hannah Weaver to join her in recording a piece for flute and percussion by American composer, Andrea Reinkemeier. Commissioned by the Albany Symphony for their Capital Region Heritage Commissions project, “Wrought Iron” serves as a musical celebration of the beautiful metal work that crowns Albany’s iconic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. The CD will be released by FNMC in 2022. For more information about FNMC and this project, visit www.flutenewmusicconsortium.com/.
