UNO Kappa Kappa Psi Chapter Recognized With National Award

UNO Bands’ Kappa Iota Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was recently awarded the Chapter Leadership Award by the National Council of Kappa Kappa Psi. This honor is in recognition of the chapter’s hard work and dedication to serving the UNO Bands over the 2019-2021 biennium.

Almost 80 chapter across the country were eligible for this ward and Kappa Iota was selected based on their extraordinary accomplishments. Chapter Leadership Award winners were finalists for the William A. Scroggs Founders Trophy, the National Top Chapter Award. Two Brothers, Nathan Novak and Carrie Anderson, presented at National Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan on behalf of the chapter for the William A. Scroggs Founders Trophy. Brother Ashley Carlson created an exemplary poster that collaborated with the presentation given by Novak and Anderson. 

Kappa Iota has stood out within the UNO Bands as a group that is always ready and determined to improve the operations and moral of the bands. From creating bell covers for wind musicians in the School of Music, and cleaning practice rooms, to fostering a welcoming and positive culture withing the bands, Kappa Iota’s presence has been felt for over twenty years at UNO.

Kappa Kappa Psi is a co-educational fraternal organization that advances college and university bands for the benefit of its members and society through dedicated service and support to bands, encouragement of musical growth, lifelong educational experiences, leadership opportunities, and recognition.
