Central High School and School of Music Collaborate on Video for Nebraska Medicine

Central high school orchestra students and University of Nebraska at Omaha School of Music students collaborate through a service learning mentoring program where they find creative ways to contribute to the environment of care for patients and staff at Nebraska Medicine’s Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center.

During a two-month project, UNO students mentored Central High School students on pieces that high school students recorded for a final compilation video to be shared with patients and staff in patient rooms.

In addition to high school performances, UNO mentors from the String Area performed pieces for the compilation video as well. This service learning project was facilitated through the UNO String Area and was a component of Sound Health: Bringing Music to Medicine. Sound Health contributes to the environment of care for patients, staff and visitors while giving music students the opportunity to engage with their community.  Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-yTCHZHKbY&feature=youtu.be
