Nebraska HeartBeats aims to contribute to the environment of care for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers.
Nebraska HeartBeats was founded in May 2019 and includes the following partners: Vaishali Phatak, Ph.D., ABPP-CN (neuropsychologist at UNMC); Steven Wengel, M.D. (geriatric psychiatrist at UNMC); the UNO Maverick Quartet (Gregory Clinton; Mary Perkinson, D.M.A; Brian Sherwood; and Olga Smola, D.M.A.); Bridget Shevlin, MT-BC (music therapist); and Anna Fisher, Ph.D., a dementia care specialist/educator at Hillcrest Health Services.
During the pandemic, Nebraska HeartBeats has found creative ways to contribute to the environment of care.
Special thanks to our many supporters and advocates, including the UNO School of Music, UNO College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media, UNO Office of Research and Creative Activity, UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, and Nebraska Arts Council.
