Omaha’s Matinee Musicale has selected Sofia Cormack as the recipient of their annual music scholarship for 2019. Sofia performed a recital of music by Debussy, Kuhlau and Kohler for the membership in May 2019 for the club’s live audition process to be considered for the $500 award, which was formally announced in October 2019. A student of Dr. Christine Beard, Sofia is a sophomore flute performance major at UNO.

Matinee Musicale is one of Omaha’s oldest music groups – having been established in the late 1800’s – and is comprised of professional musicians, amateur musicians, and music aficionados. Though the club does not have a website, many of their concert programs dating back to the early 1900’s can be viewed on the “Nebraska Memories” website at http://memories.ne.gov.
