UNO piano professor Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor’s article, “How Suite It Is!: Using Elements of the French Baroque Suite to Unify a Diverse Recital Program,” was published in the Winter 2019 edition of the Iowa Music Teacher Magazine. The article focuses the discussion on various concepts musicians should consider to unify their program. Using a recital program that she is preparing for an active concert schedule in the next year, Dr. Taylor demonstrates how pieces by French Baroque composer Jean Philippe Rameau, Norwegian Romantic composer Edvard Grieg, French Impressionist/Neo-Classical composer Maurice Ravel, and American (Iowa-born) modern composer Bryan Stanley, despite disparity in era and style, all use elements of the French Baroque Suite in their own suites.
