On February 25th, the UNO Jazz Combo I won the Omaha Performing Arts Student Jazz Combo Competition for the third year in a row. As a result, they have been invited to perform at the Jazz on the Green series over the summer.

Subsequently, the group went to the 40th Annual KU Jazz Festival on March 4th, and won the Outstanding College Ensemble Award. They were selected to perform at the festival’s evening concert in which they opened for Grammy nominated composer/guitarist Anthony Wilson.

Finally, Dr. Darren Pettit visited the University of St. Louis to conduct the jazz ensemble on a piece titled “Ursa Minor” which was favorably received by the audience. Dr. Pettit was also a guest soloist at the concert on another piece.
