In September 2025, Dr. Christine Beard made her sixth appearance at the Festival Flautas del Mundo in Mendoza, Argentina, where she was invited to present her lecture-recital, “The Role of Music During the Holocaust,” and to teach a piccolo masterclass for flute students at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. During the festival, she also conducted the UNO Flute Studio in their ensemble performances.

Beard’s connection with the World Flutes Festival began in 2012, when she first performed there with her then-duo partner, percussionist Tomm Roland. The following year, the pair secured a UNO FRI grant and led a university delegation to Mendoza to establish a reciprocal agreement between UNO and UN-Cuyo, fostering student and faculty exchanges between the two music programs. This collaboration led to two UNO percussion students studying Andean percussion in Argentina in 2014, followed by a visit to UNO by festival founder and Andean music specialist Pablo Salcedo, who offered world music masterclasses and a recital.

Beard’s enduring professional relationship and friendship with Salcedo have continued to strengthen international ties between the two institutions, enabling her to bring UNO flute students to perform at the festival on three separate occasions—providing them with invaluable artistic growth and cultural immersion.
