UNO Choir Director to Conduct Historic Mass in Mexico City along with UNO Choir Students

Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Richard A. Carrillo will be making his international conducting debut leading a festival choir of singers from across the US (including fourteen UNO choral students) and a professional Mexican orchestra in Frank La Rocca’s Mass of the Americas. This historic Mass is celebrating the upcoming 500th Anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is known to be one of the largest cultural and religious icons in Mexico.

The Mass will be performed in the Basilica Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which seats 10,000 individuals who will be in attendance, and is seen as the US’s official response to the late Pope Francis’s request for the West to find ways to celebrate this historic anniversary.
