Sophomore Connor Runge (BA-Music Technology) shares research about censorship of graphic music lyrics

Connor Runge is pursuing a BA in Music Technology and also studies both jazz and classical bass. As a component of his English Composition II class, he conducted research about graphic lyric censorship in music. He distributed a survey to UNO students which shows how students perceive graphic music lyrics. Based on his surveys and other research on this topic he finds that expressing raw visceral aspects of life allow for increased creative expression and empathy, and that censoring music prevents nuanced discussion of harsh realities.
