Stacie Haneline was honored to present and perform at the 2024 College Music Society Conference session, “Singing Down the Barriers and the Art of Democracy: Resources and Initiatives for Opening Classrooms and Concert Halls to Black Voices in American Song,” with incredible collaborative faculty from the University of Michigan, Shenandoah Conservatory, St. Olaf, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The scholars and performers share their expertise and advocacy throughout the country promoting the work in residency programs at Universities, conferences and during the summer institution, Singing Down the Barriers at the University of Michigan.

While in D.C., Stacie was invited to hear her former student, Yimeng Xu, in a rehearsal with the University of Maryland orchestra under the baton of Maestro David Neely. Yimeng is in her first year of Doctoral Studies for Collaborative Piano and was selected as the pianist for Igor Stravinsky’s, Petrushka.
