
UNO Professor of Flute, Dr. Christine Beard, has been awarded Honorable Mention in the 2024 Professional Soloist Division of the prestigious American Prize Competition for her performance of “Hall of Ghosts” (2020) for solo piccolo by American composer Amanda Harberg. Open to all professional instrumentalists without age limit, the American Prize celebrates excellence in the arts through a series of non-profit, national competitions recognizing and rewarding America’s finest performing artists, ensembles and composers.
Beard’s performance of the Harberg is still in consideration for the 2024 Ernst Bacon Memorial Award which recognizes and rewards the best performances of American music, the results for which will be announced later this fall.
