Christine Beard Performs with the SuperFlutes International Collective at the Swiss Golden Flute Classic

UNO Professor of Flute, Dr. Christine Beard joined her colleagues in the SuperFlutes International Collective in Switzerland from October 3-6, 2024 where the ensemble performed a concert of music by Gluck, Bach, Shostakovich and Prokofiev at the 10th anniversary of the Swiss Flute Society’s “Golden Flute Classic” (formerly the “La Côte Festival”) just outside of Geneva in Gland.

Consisting of a core of 8-12 professional flutists from 4 continents, SuperFlutes was founded during the Costa Rica International Flute Festival in 2013 by British flutist Carla Rees. Since then, SuperFlutes members travel to a location 1-2 days before an event for 1-2 rehearsals and then perform concerts, which has included international flute festivals in Brazil, Japan, the UK, Switzerland, as well as 4 of the USA’s National Flute Association Conventions. The SuperFlutes International Collective will convene again in Costa Rica in July 2024, followed by tentative concerts in August 2024 at both the NFA in Atlanta and the Japan Flute Festival in Kobe.
