XY Duo Hits the Road for a Guest Residency in North Dakota

XY Duo, a contemporary flute and percussion duo comprised of UNO School of Music faculty Christine Beard and Hannah Weaver, traveled to Grand Forks, ND for a 2-day residency at the University of North Dakota. The duo performed a recital of music by John Luther Adams, Jacob TV, Gene Kosinski, Egbert Jan Louwerse, and the ND premiere of Juri Seo’s “Birds, Bees, Electric Fish” for 2 flutes and 2 percussion, for which the duo was joined by UND faculty members, Lisa Bost-Sandberg (flute) and Jason Kihle (percussion). On day 2 of the residency, Dr. Weaver presented a lecture on Musician Health and Injury Prevention, and Dr. Beard presented a lecture on Self-Marketing Strategies for the 21st c. Musician to students and faculty at UND.

Founded in 2020, XY Duo has performed for the Festival Internacional de Flautistas de Lima-Peru, the National Composer’s Orchestra Chamber Music Series, and the Scheherazade Music Festival in KS. Upcoming engagements include the FNMC New Music Festival in October 2024 being hosted at UNO.
