XY Duo (comprised of UNO faculty members Christine Beard, flute and Hannah Weaver, percussion) have been selected to perform st the Scheherazade Music Festival held in Manhattan, KS from June 11-13, 2024. They will be joined by flutist Lisa Bost-Sandberg (North Dakota) and percussionist Ryan Pearson (KS) on a concert featuring Juri Seo’s hot-off-the-press “Birds, Bees, Electric Fish” as well as selections from’ “Songbird Songs” by John Luther Adam’s.

Co-founded by flutist Colleen White, the vision of the Scheherazade festival is “to tell stories through chamber music, weaving together enthralling narratives with innovative programming.” The 3-day festival will take place at Prairiewood’s Blue Sage Barn and will include a Cocktail hour, Formal Gala Concert with Creature Costumes, Chamber Music Performances featuring newly-composed works, and a Children’s Event.
