Graduate flutist Claire James awarded BEMIS CENTER Internship Position for Spring 2024

Clare James has been awarded an Artist-In-Residence Internship at the Bemis Center during the Spring 2024. Bemis Center interns assist staff and artists-in-residence with artistic and collaborative projects that help run the organization, execute exhibitions, deliver programs, connect with audiences, and support artists in the creation of new art.

Artist-in-Residence intern positions duties vary each semester as the Bemis Center helps tailor the position to the artists-in-residence discipline and projects on which they are working. Sample duties may include: Art handling and materials preparation; Artwork production and shop work; Sourcing, research, filing, and archiving; Documenting work via photography and/or videography; and Graphic design/website development.

A graduate of Boston’s Longy School of Music at Bard College, Claire is a 2nd year graduate student at UNO working toward her Masters degree in flute performance under the mentorship of Dr. Christine Beard. She is the co-creator of Omaha’s SoundBites culinary+music concert series, for which she received 1st prize in the Graduate performance division of UNO’s Creative Activity and Research Fair in 2023.
