Christine Beard Invited to be Artist-Teacher at the 12th Internacional Festival de Flautistas de Costa Rica

UNO Professor of Flute, Dr. Christine Beard made her 5th consecutive appearance at the bi-annual Internacional Festival de Flautistas de Costa Rica, held in San José, Costa Rica from July 3-9, 2023.

She was joined by 10 other international artist-teachers from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Switzerland, UK, Costa Rica, and the USA. During the festival, Beard performed a solo recital featuring American music for flute and piccolo by Herman Beeftink, William Linthicum-Blackhorse, Evan Williams and Nathalie Joachim for which she was joined by pianist Lillian Pearson and flutist Reginal Yost. Christie also taught a flute masterclass in which she coached 10 student festival participants from across Central America.

In addition, Christine was invited to perform for the “Women in Music” Symposium held at the Costa Rican Congress led by the trailblazing British flutist Susan Milan, and she performed as a member of the SuperFlutes International Collective in a concert held in the municipality of Dota. Beard also served as the guest conductor for the festival’s final event featuring the 100+ member flute choir in their finale concert at the Museo Nacional de Costa Rica.
