The UNO Collegiate Music Teachers Association’s presentation, “Mirrors of Positivity: The Importance of Teacher Mental Health,” was accepted to the Florida State Music Teachers Association Conference. It will take place from October 23rd to October 31st over Zoom. CMTA’s presentation focuses on how teachers can care for and cultivate their own mental health during these difficult times and into the future. Presenters will speak about different mental health strategies, including mindfulness, resiliency, positive self talk, and self-care.

Additionally, the UNO Collegiate Music Teachers Association hosted the first installment of their Music Diversity Project on October 21st at 7:30 pm. This first session focused on Latin American music and composers. The session included information on pedagogical techniques and repertoire to start teaching Latin American music, as well as lessons from Roxana Gurrola, a Latin American dancer.
